Royal Worcester Blue Rhapsody Egg Coddlers
Vintage Egg Coddlers by Royal Worcester
Royal Worcester pottery in England is believed to have been the creator of this unique piece of pottery. The hand crafted pots were placed in simmering water and the eggs inside were cooked to a delicate soft texture. Fresh eggs always ensured the whites would wrap the yolk in the center of the eggs. Whites thin as an egg ages. The gentle cooking method was described as coddling the eggs and thus theme of theses delightful pots.
That said there are so many uses for these wonderful containers. The lids are tight fitting and easy to work. The size is perfect for spices and condiments that need small containers with a good seal. I have heirloom seeds stored in one. The lovely graphics make your shelf look so pretty. The nature inspired artwork against the pure white milk glass jar turns a container into a decorative accent.
This design is entitled Rhapsody and features lovely blue floral graphics. The large size is 3 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches in diameter. The smaller size is 2 1/2 inches tall and 2 1/4 inches in diameter. Lift rings extend about 1/2 inch from the top of the lids. All cups are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. All lids are tight fitting and in good condition with only a few minor defects that include scratches and wear around the rim. All hallmarks are clear and legible.
