The New York Times Heritage Cook Book
Heritage Cook Book
By author Jean Hewitt, a collection of recipes from the New York Times, Copyright 1972.
There are 804 glorious pages of recipes that are in regional sections and attributed to individual states. One of the coolest assets of this collection is that it was curated from recipes sent from all over the US. With influence of region and heritage of those who came here as immigrants and brought with them the techniques and traditions of many cultures.
As with many of the older cook books there are a number of pages blank in the back for notes from your own kitchen. This book is blank and waiting for your notes to pass along when the time comes.
There is a hand written note inside the hard back cover to the original owner. It was once a gift and could be again. There are also some bits of paper like church bulletins and notes inside marking recipes. I have left these to travel forward with the book. Its just a bit of previous life tucked between the pages.
This is a big ole cook book. With recipes both home soon and up scale for those with true culinary talents.
I have only only copy of this wonderful book for purchase.
